Schwabe Presented New Holographic Sights

“Schwabe”, part of the State Corporation Rostec, has developed and produced a new holographic collimator sight PKG with improved performance, which was presented at the exhibition “Interpolitex 2014”.

Unlike conventional collimator sight, the holographic sight of “Schwabe” may be used for intended purposes, even during contamination or partial damage to the optics. PKG may be used for hunting rifled and smoothbore guns of different calibers.

New development of designers of JSC “S.A. Zverev Krasnogorsk Factory” was presented by the plant through participation in the exhibition “Interpolitex 2014”.

RAS Proposed Four Major Projects for Modernization of Russian Economy

Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) provides for the implementation four major projects from different areas of high technology for the modernization of the Russian economy, RAS President Vladimir Fortov told to reporters on Thursday.

According to Fortov, he presented these projects on Tuesday at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The first project involves the introduction to the Russian energy industry of combined-cycle plants, the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences noticed.

The second project deals with “smart” power grids.

“Our network facilities are worn by 60-70 percent. It is the reason of large network losses,” Fortov said, adding that in order to reduce the accident rate we should use “a symbiosis of power networks and information technology”.

Vladimir Putin Visited Supercomputing Center of Moscow State University

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the new Supercomputing Center of the Moscow State Lomonosov University, which can help to solve the problems of the Russian industry.

The rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy told about the work of the supercomputing complex to the head of state during the tour. The TV screen showed to Putin the supercomputer simulations of climate change, spaceships modeling, space technology calculations. Furthermore, Sadovnichy described the use of a supercomputer “Lomonosov”, which is the flagship of the complex to simulate the aerodynamics of athletes.

After inspecting of the supercomputer complex, the President familiarized with the exhibition exhibits, already implemented in production. Putin received the sports uniform with nanocoating.

Strategic Missile Forces to Create Mobile Station for Liquid and Gaseous Nitrogen and Oxygen

The Strategic Missile Forces are creating a mobile station for receiving liquid and gaseous nitrogen and oxygen from the air in position areas of missile regiments. It is planned that by the end of 2017 the troops will receive four such mobile stations.

As it was reported in the press service of the Office of Information of Defense Ministry, the station will be a set of functionally related equipment, which does not require transshipment to the maintenance site for full operation. If necessary, it can work on an autonomous diesel power generator.

The station with a higher degree of maneuverability is used in the Strategic Missile Forces and the Air Forces as an autonomous mean of ground provider of air division products.

Russia and India Discuss Cooperation on GLONASS Technologies

The Russian-Indian working group on trade, economic and investment cooperation has discussed interaction in the field of GLONASS-based navigation technologies. This information was presented by the press center of the GLONASS non-commercial partnership.

“The parties have confirmed that successful experience in implementing large-scale projects in the field of satellite navigation can be used in India. In the near future, India will define a partner for the GLONASS non-commercial partnership to implement relevant projects in the country. As part of the Make in India strategic program, which was unveiled by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the parties are considering the possibility of manufacturing GLONASS navigation devices in India,” the press service informed.

In addition, the parties are investigating the possibility of using the GLONASS technology to ensure safety of passengers, create control systems for commercial vehicles, introduce navigation technologies into the activities of insurance companies, and monitor the status of stationary and natural objects.

Russia to Restore Space Echelons of Missile Warning System

The Russian Defence Ministry will restore its space-based echelon of the Missile Warning System. This was announced by Deputy Defence Minister Yury Borisov on Thursday.

“The missile launch monitoring spacecraft are part of the Missile Warning System, its first echelon. The system will also comprise a network of ground-based radar stations. The nuclear strike systems are being developed, in particular, the creation of maneuvering ballistic targets and the missile penetration system development is underway, so the role and place of the space-based echelon of the Missile Warning System will be constantly growing,” Mr. Borisov noted.

“Our main goal is to dynamically restore the system. And the restoration work is being performed in strict compliance with the schedule. I hope that in the near future, after the first launch of the spacecraft, which will be a single space system, the contribution of the first echelon will increase,” Mr. Borisov concluded.

General Designer of the Missile Warning System Sergey Boyev earlier said that the first new satellites would be orbited in 2015.

Shvabe Focused on Boosting Activities in Austria and Germany

Russia’s Shvabe has registered a trademark in Cyrillic and Latin in Austria for 16 classes under the International Classification of Goods and Services. The company obtained unique rights to use a trademark for selling products for civilian applications including medical, geodetic, and scientific equipment, optical instruments and photography products, lighting equipment, measurement tools and other products, as well as for implementing research and development projects. In addition, the company gained rights to render a range of services including material processing, industrial analysis and providing support for education and training.

It should be noted that Shvabe is already supplying Austria with high-aperture scopes for hunting and sports firearms, panoramic stills cameras, as well as high-quality interchangeable SLR lenses. In addition, the company is focused on entering the German market.

Russia Finishes Mi-17V-5 Supplies to Afghan National Army

Russia has completed the delivery of Mi-17V-5 military transport helicopters to the Afghan National Army. 63 helicopters produced at Kazan Helicopters have been supplied to Afghanistan since the contract between Rosoboronexport and the US Department of Defence was signed in 2011.

“Rosoboronexport proved itself a reliable supplier of military helicopters and was highly appreciated by its US partners in implementing the contract to supply Mi-17V-5 helicopters to Afghanistan. Mi-8/17 helicopters have shown that they perform well in Afghanistan, with its challenging climate and mountainous areas. The helicopters contribute to the successful formation of the Afghan National Security Forces and are part of Russia-US cooperation in the fight against international terrorism,” the press service reported.

The Russian side represented by the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation confirms that it is ready to discuss potential future supplies of Mi-type helicopters, and also to provide maintenance to Russian-made helicopters already in operation.

The landing craft “Midshipman Lermontov”, built for the Baltic Fleet at the Yaroslavl shipyard, arrived to Baltiysk – the main base of the Baltic Fleet to pass mooring and sea tests.

This was announced today to TASS by the spokesman of the Baltic Fleet captain 2 rank Vladimir Matveev.

The crew of “Midshipman Lermontov” together with representatives of the manufacturer will test the functionality of all systems and mechanisms to ensure the combat readiness of boats and livelihoods of seafarers, as well as its agility and speed capabilities.

This is the third ship of the project 21820, by its characteristics is unique in the world, which will join the combat strength of the amphibious ships division in the Baltic.
